From Shuffle to Clip

My iPod Shuffle went through the washing machine recently. I haven't been able to ask it how the ride was since it has not regained consciousness since. I used my Shuffle a lot so it definitely exceeded its life expectancy within the short 1.5 years we've been together. However, I have found a suitable replacement, the Sansa Clip by SanDisk. It has twice as much storage, cost less, and also has a few features the iPod didn't have like a screen. Best of all you can drag n' drop music onto the device like a flash drive without the use of iTunes (which I was not a fan of using).

I initially purchased the beefed up version of the Clip called the Sansa Fuze. It was a great product but after a few days I realized that I would not be exploiting all of the features so why continue with our relationship. I took it back and got the Clip.

Let me know what you use to listen to your music.

I use a Sandisk Sansa something or other. I got it for several reasons:

1. It's not apple
2. It costs less than crapple
3. More gigs for the buck, plus a slot for a micro SD card - that's another 2 gigs.
4. I get am/fm radio
5. It has a voice recorder
6. It plays video (though I don't really watch video on the dinky screen)
7. It's not apple

The one drawback I have with the particular model I got, is that it is not supported by Audible audio books.

Another great feature is that the SanDisk Sansa devices work well with Linux and also Windows. My only beef with the Apple devices is that Apple works to make sure they can only be used with iTunes, so if you use Linux you have to hunt for an alternative. I can't trash talk too much about Apple when a lot of the flash memory my company produces ends up in iPods and iPhones. ;)

Im a Nano girl. My kids gave it to me and it brought me up to date with this century.
Love it!

I got my wife a Nano a few years ago (I knew she was getting me a Shuffle so I had to out-do her). It continues to serve us well.

That is the last time I try to surprise you with a gift. Next time if you don't like something, just say so. You don't have to send it through the wash!! I am glad you are enjoying your new clip. (really, I am!)

I haven't hit this digital stage yet :) I have been trying to decide what I want to get. Thanks for the input. For now I just use whatever Retep has laying around in MP3 players. I have discovered though that I do not like the Ipod/Itunes. I do not like the fact that they basically lock up your music. I wanted to make a video slideshow with music and I couldn't incorporate my Itune song without going through a series of programs to unlock. So not worth it in my opinion. I now buy my music from Amazon.
