Movie Review: VALKYRIE

My wife and I just saw the movie VALKYRIE. Since the movie is based on a true story I took the opportunity to read the actual account of what really happened and discovered that the movie comes very, very close to fact. Also, Tom Cruise looks so much like the the guy whose roll he is filling (Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg) that he could easily be his brother. You can gather from the trailer for the movie (posted on the right) that Stauffenberg is part of a group that are trying to assassinate Adolf Hitler. I probably won't be blowing the plot for you if I state that they didn't succeed- if you're floored by this information then you probably didn't pay attention in history class. However, just because they failed doesn't mean that their heroic effort to save Germany and the world from the destructive whims of a madman should not be told. I thought the costumes, sets, and characters were excellent and I'd recommend this movie at least to watch on DVD if you don't get to the theater to see it.

I just saw Ironman, it was pretty good. Haven't been to the theater since Maddie was born.
