Admit it, you missed me while I was gone...

I'm back from training. As usual it was very hot, I gained a lot of valuable experience, and I missed my family so it's good to be home.

Here are some things I learned:

  • If you're going to workout at the gym on base, try to get to the bench before the firefighters do so you won't have to pull all the 45 pound weights off before starting your set. The firefighters take their workouts seriously and grunt a lot when they're exercising, I tried grunting to be cool like them but it didn't take.
  • KC-135 refueling aircraft are incredibly awesome to watch take off. I got really close to one that was parked on the flightline, they're really interesting close up. Word on the street is that the Security Forces guys will beat you down and put you into a pain induced coma if you cross the red line on the pavement around the plane, I didn't feel like testing this by crossing the line.
  • The inside of a washing machine is no place for an iPod Shuffle. RIP Shuffle...
  • Casino hotels have too many mirrors, if you didn't start your stay being self critical you'll probably end up that way before you leave. Actually, having an entire wall in my room covered with a mirror wasn't bad, it gave me someone to talk to.
  • I learned to a greater extent the overall purpose and capabilities of my squadron.
  • My relationships with the rest of my team were reinforced and my technical knowledge was increased ten fold.
  • I further realized that we are great contributors to the defense of the nation and in achieving state/federal strategic objectives.
  • I remembered why I joined the Air National Guard, 'To protect the skies my family sleeps under'. Sleep well.

Those dang firefighters lol!
Where did you go by the way? I am stationed with 135's, I like them but I miss the fighters... if your ever up this way or towards seattle stop in I can get you inside a strato-tanker!
Happy birthday... by the way what is that ribbon before your BMT?
I've never seen it.

I spent some time at air base in Salt Lake City then in Nevada. I remember you showing me the fighters at Nellis, those were awesome and very loud as I recall.

The ribbon is a national guard recruiting ribbon, I 'earned' it by helping someone join the ANG. I think most states use the same ribbon so if you see it again somewhere you'll be in the know.

That's what you get for getting a new CAC. My rank on mine is wrong but I refuse to get another until they make me cuz I know it'll just mess things up...I share your pain brotha.

We are glad to have you back too. Oh, and thanks for not crossing the red line. I know the kids are glad too. You are much more fun when you are not comatose! (and much more helpful with all our projects around the house)

Well first thing about those security guys if you wear your body armor and have a clue where your rifle goes I think you could probably talk your way into a little tour of the aircraft....as was my experience in Manas but I couldn't even remember what aircraft we got a tour of.

Sounds like the desert wasn't too bad for a place to keep the skies safe. Hope you guys get to blast bad guy airplanes out of the sky with your Gazer Beam Gun!
