I was quite vexed when I heard Oldies 94.1 KODJ play 'Danger Zone' by Kenny Loggins a few days ago. I spent some time wondering why this atrocity had occurred when I had the following epiphany.
My dad used to listen to the oldies station in his car all the time when we drove together and he never let me change the station. I've heard enough Simon and Garfunkel and Gordon Lightfoot to last two lifetimes. This was in the 80's/90's so he was listening to music from about twenty years earlier. Top Gun came out in 1985-ish which puts it at about 23 years old...see where I'm going with this? Music older than about twenty years is fair game for the oldies stations apparently. The big question now is do I set a preset in my car for the oldies station to hear the music I like and so my son can write a blog about how I used to make him listen to oldies all the time...?
Does this sound like an oldie to you?! ;)

I think the real question here is whether or not, when you heard the song playing, you put on your sun glasses and sped up the car while singing along...
Expose them to the finer things in life...music from decades past. My kids love it.
Great song! Great movie! Expose your kids to the "oldies"
Great movie. I do beleive Kelly Mcgillis and Meg Ryan should have swapt roles. Nobody would pull that swauve move in the bar for Mcgillis.
But back to Kenny Logins. He has sung alot the themes for many of movies in the 80's. Danger Zone being the best.
